It was established in June 2022 upon the initiative of the Krakow Philharmonic. It is made up children who, faced with the difficult situation in Ukraine, were forced to leave their country, and found shelter as well as opportunity for further artistic development in Poland. The principal idea behind the choir’s activity is to acquaint the audiences with the rich tapestry of Ukrainian culture, and to support the young singers’ bond with their native traditions.
Ove the two years of their operation, the choir has participated in numerous high-profile artistic endeavours, carried out on the stage of the Krakow Philharmonic. They included, inter alia, concerts forming part of the Musica Ars Amanda series, annual Christmas carol concerts, stage performance of Carl Orff’s cantata Carmina Burana, Leo Delibes’s Messe Brevis, works by Georg Friedrich Haendel and Michael Haydn. The choir has also extensively toured around Poland, and was involved in the performance of Hans Krása’s opera Brundibár.
The ensemble won the Golden Diploma in the 2023 Chorus Inside competition in Warsaw.
Since its establishment, the choir has been led by Olena Yatskulynets, a conductor with long-standing experience of working with chamber and children’s choral ensembles.
