Professional string quartet dedicated to classical music, but also works by contemporary composers, and cross-genre projects. Thanks to the stylistic versatility of its members, the quartet’s distinctive sound and energetic performances also reflect influences of folk music, jazz, and experience with improvisational music. The members of Spectrum Quartett began performing together in 2009 within Orfeus Ensemble (later EnsembleSpectrum). Performances at contemporary music events such as Orfeus, Soozvuk, and AsynChronie led to the founding of Spectrum Quartett in 2012. The quartet has premiered works by numerous contemporary Slovak composers, including M. Lejava, Ľ. Bernáth, J. Kmiťová, J. Iršai, Ľ. Čekovská, R. Grimm, M. Blažek, and others. In 2022, the ensemble released its debut album Cubus under Pavlik Records, featuring new compositions of young Slovak contemporary composers dedicated to Spectrum Quartett – by M. Paľko, V. Šarišský, L. Chuťková, and P. Duchnický. The ensemble has performed at festivals including BRaK, Grape, One Day Jazz Festival, Music of Today at SNG, Konvergencie, New Slovak Music, Pro Musica Nostra, Hortus Artis, and others.
