One of the most versatile and dynamically developing symphony orchestras in Poland. Continuing the traditions of the pre-war radio orchestras, it has been shaping the musical landscape of Warsaw and Polish culture since 1945. The orchestra combines the highest artistic standards with bold thinking about the role of a contemporary cultural institution. It develops social, educational and interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with partners from the worlds of science, visual arts, film and social organizations. The Orchestra collaborates both with masters such as Jacek Kaspszyk, Antoni Wit and Jerzy Maksymiuk, as well as with outstanding conductors of the younger generation, including Anna Sułkowska-Migoń, Michał Nesterowicz and Yaroslav Shemet. Since the 2026/2027 season, the Orchestra’s Artistic Director has been Bassem Akiki. The orchestra’s home is the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw’s Mokotów district, but it can be encountered just as easily on the stages of major festivals, on television screens, on the radio airwaves and across social media.
