Established in 1945, the ensemble has performed at renowned Polish festivals (including Wratislavia Cantans and Warsaw Autumn), as well as at festivals abroad, including those in Paris, Lyon, La Chaise-Dieu, Venice, Rome, Baalbek, and Helsinki. It was the first Polish ensemble to perform at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The choir has also participated in major international events, including a concert in the Vatican to commemorate the 10th anniversary of John Paul II’s pontificate, a concert in Berlin marking German reunification, celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, and events held on the occasion of the canonisation of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II in the Vatican. Among the ensemble’s most recent outstanding achievements was a special performance of Penderecki’s Credo at a concert in Rome in 2025, marking the 5th anniversary of the composer’s death and the 20th anniversary of the death of John Paul II. For many years, the choir has been highly regarded by audiences, critics, and conductors who have collaborated with the ensemble. Its international tours in North America, Asia, and almost all European countries have earned it the title of an ‘ambassador of Polish culture’.
