For the generation of Polish-Lithuanian siblings \u2013 Vytautas Bacevi\u010dius and Gra\u017cyna Bacewicz \u2013 Karol Szymanowski was an icon of new music. His Masques<\/g>, Op. 34, belonging to the Impressionist\/Expressionist phase, present his interpretation of figures rooted in culture. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Three Grotesques<\/em> by Bacewicz fit into the trend of comic and dance vitalism. In turn, Bacevi\u010dius\u2019 works represent cosmological ideas: anticipated by Po\u00e8me mystique<\/em>, Op. 6 and M\u00e9ditaton<\/em>, Op. 29 from the Kaunas, modernist years, and embodied by Trois pens\u00e9es musicales<\/em>, Op. 75 from the American years. Cosmic music expressed the artist\u2019s inner universe. The Piano Suite No. 3, Op. 60 crowns the earlier period, which was a \u201ccompromise\u201d with the listener, while Sixi\u00e8me mot<\/em>, Op. 72 belongs to a collection of seven compositions resembling words \u201cconveyed\u201d through sounds. <\/p>\n
