This year\u2019s Eufonie programme has been inspired by  <\/strong><strong><em><strong>kintsugi, <\/strong><\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong>the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. It is\u202fone of the most apt\u202fmetaphors for culture,\u202fin which\u202fmusic and the experience of sharing it can become a golden bond\u202fin a divided world.  <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s 8th International Music Festival of Central and Eastern Europe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/aktualna-edycja\/\">Eufonie <\/a>will take place from 12 November to 6 December. The Festival will be inaugurated by a concert at the Grand Theatre in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, where the world-famous soprano <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/kristine-opolais-rafal-kloczko\/\">Kristine Opolais<\/a>, together with an orchestra conducted by Rafa\u0142 K\u0142oczko, will combine operatic craftsmanship with gems of Polish music of the turn of the twentieth century. It will be a prelude to the remaining concerts in the programme, in which a special place is occupied by the world premiere of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/krauze-mahler-shemet-2\/\">Zygmunt Krauze<\/a>\u2019s work based on Adam Zagajewski\u2019s poem <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/aktualna-edycja\/\">Try to Praise the Mutilated World<\/a>. It is a meeting of two great voices of Polish culture \u2013 a poet and a composer whose work reminds us that beauty can help us through the most difficult experiences in life.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The social and identity dimension of music will also be present in Jean Sibelius\u2019s Symphony No. 2, performed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/en\/event\/liepaja-symphony-orchestra-kuzma\/\">Latvian Liep\u0101ja Symphony Orchestra<\/a> conducted by Guntis Kuzma \u2013 a work whose music awakened the national spirit of the Finns \u2013 as well as in a new co-commissioned composition by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/lutoslawski-sikora-bartok-akiki\/\">El\u017cbieta Sikora<\/a>, which is a musical tribute to the individual\u2019s resistance to an oppressive system. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The monumental <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/en\/event\/penderecki-credo-klauza\/\">Credo \u2013 the last great work by Krzysztof Penderecki <\/a>\u2013 will be performed at the Warsaw Philharmonic and during partner concerts in other cities, where the Orchestra and Choir of the Krak\u00f3w Philharmonic and the Ukrainian Children\u2019s Choir will perform under the direction of Micha\u0142 Klauza. The sounds of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/lutoslawski-sikora-bartok-akiki\/\">Witold Lutos\u0142awski\u2019s reflective Musique fun\u00e8bre <\/a>will fill the Witold Lutos\u0142awski Concert Studio of Polish Radio, while Valentin Silvestrov\u2019s contemplative Silent Music, performed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/baltic-neopolis-orchestra\/\">Baltic Neopolis Orchestra<\/a>, will be heard at Nowa Miodowa in Warsaw, as well as during events in partner cities. Folk themes will also feature in the programme \u2013 the concert <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/pictures-from-slovakia\/\">Pictures from Slovakia<\/a> will take us into the sounds of the Slovak mountains.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\u202fthis edition of the Eufonie Festival, listeners will be guided along contemplative musical paths:\u202ffrom Mahler\u2019s ironic metaphysics and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/kompozytorzy-gdanscy\/\">du Grain\u2019s spiritual Baroque landscapes<\/a>\u202fto\u202fcontemporary musical meditation on mortality by Miko\u0142aj G\u00f3recki in his new composition Atlantis and reflection on transience in the opera <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eufonie.pl\/event\/czarodziejska-gora-2\/\">The Magic Mountain<\/a>, produced by Nowy Teatr International Cultural Centre and Teatr Wielki \u2013 Polish National Opera, co-organised by the National Centre for Culture Poland and the Pozna\u0144 Malta Festival. The premiere of the opera will take place during the 7th New Europe International Festival.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An integral part of the Festival is also the Little Eufonie series for the youngest listeners and the Altersounds section \u2013 an overview of contemporary artistic explorations at the intersection of electronics, jazz, film music and improvisation.
