Hailed by The Guardian for his \u2018brilliance and maturity\u2019, Russian-Lithuanian pianist Lukas Geniu\u0161as has emerged as a standout voice of his generation, celebrated for his electrifying artistry and unmistakable individuality. <\/p>\n\n
Lukas is heard in recital at most prestigious venues all over the world, such as the Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Salle Gaveau, Louvre Auditorium, Frick Collection New York, Sala Verdi in Milan and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. He regularly at festivals such as the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Verbier Festival, La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron, the Ruhr Piano Festival, Schloss-Elmau and the Lockenhaus Music Festivals. <\/p>\n\n
Lukas is invited to perform with major international orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, Royal Northern Sinfonietta, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra etc. under the batons of conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Tugan Sokhiev, Mikhail Pletnev, Leonard Slatkin and Rafael Payare to name but a few.<\/p>\n\n
Recent highlights include concerts with the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse and Dima Slobodeniouk, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Maxim Emelyanchev and a tour with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra and Kristiina Poska. A dedicated chamber musician, he records and performs regularly with the violinist Aylen Pritchin, with his wife, the pianist Anna Geniushene and notably with the soprano Asmik Grigorian in some of Europe\u2019s most prestigious venues including the Salzburg and Aix-en-Provence Festivals, the Zurich, Geneva and Frankfurt Opera houses, the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg and La Scala in Milan and the Vienna Konzerthaus. <\/p>\n\n
Lukas is currently engaged in a series of concerts in which he gives the first public performances of the original, unabridged version of Rachmaninov\u2019s First Piano Sonata and recorded it at the composer\u2019s Swiss residence. This recently released CD \u2013 which received 5-star reviews in BBC Music and Gramophone Magazine \u2013 was awarded both the Diapason \u2018CD of the Month\u2019 and selected as one of the most outstanding CDs released in 2024 in Classica Magazine\u2019s \u2018CHOC DE 2024\u2019 selection. It is the latest in a large and critically acclaimed discography, which has earned Lukas the Diapason CD of the Year (Prokofiev sonatas), the Gramophone CD of the Year in the Song Category (Dissonance with Asmik Grigorian) amongst many accolades. <\/p>\n\n
Born in Moscow in 1990, Lukas Geniu\u0161as graduated from the Chopin Music College Moscow, in 2008.
