Bass-baritone. Pianist. A graduate of the Academy of Music in Warsaw, where he studied singing under Dr. A. Radziejewska and piano under Prof. K. Gierżod. He is a laureate of the F. Platówna vocal competition in Wrocław and the Reszków competition in Częstochowa. He has received scholarships from the Prime Minister, the Mayor of Częstochowa, and the Government of Lower Austria.
As a soloist, he has performed on most Polish philharmonic stages under the baton of distinguished conductors. He collaborates with the early music ensemble La Tempesta, among others, with whom he regularly performs and records.
Since 2008, he has been a soloist of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, where he performs the roles of: Orbazzano (Tankred – G. Rossini), Alidoro (Cinderella – G. Rossini), Selim (The Turk in Italy – G. Rossini), Imeneo (Imeneo – G. F. Haendel), Orfeo (Orpheus and Eurydice – C. W. Gluck), Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas – Purcell), Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro – W. A. Mozart), Papageno (The Magic Flute – W. A. Mozart), Don Giovanni, Masetto (Don Giovanni – W. A. Mozart), Dulcamara (Les d’Amore – G. Donizetti), Marszałek (Halka – S. Moniuszko), Azariasz (The Burning Fiery Furnace – B. Britten), Severus (Polyeuktus – Z. Krauze), Ben (Telephone – Menotti), Professor (Operetta – M. Dobrzyński). He also appeared as Severus at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse (2011).
In May 2011, he made his debut at the National Theater Mannheim in the roles of Passante and Poliziotto in the premiere of S. Sciarrino’s Superflumina. Furthermore, working with the “Dramma per Musica” Association, he appeared on the stage of the Stanisławowski Theater in Warsaw in the roles of Pallante (Agrippina – G. F. Handel), Zoroastro (Orlando – G. F. Handel), and Melisso (Alcina – G. F. Handel). He also appeared as Il Malaspina in S. Sciarrino’s Luci mie traditrici at the “Warsaw Autumn” festival (2016) and the “NODO” festival in Ostrava (2018).
Since November 2016, he has been collaborating with the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, singing the roles of Zbigniew in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor, Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, and the Commander of the Guard in Hindemith’s Cardillac.
He also appears as a guest at the Reiseopera in Enschede, Netherlands (Giulio Cesare – Handel, The Magic Flute – Mozart), the Wrocław Opera (Cinderella – Rossini, Immanuel Kant – Możdżer), the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz (Le nozze di Figaro – Mozart, L’elisir d’amore – Donizetti), the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk (Candide – Bernstein, Don Bucefalo – Cagnoni, Fidelio – Beethoven), the Grand Theatre in Łódź (Le nozze di Figaro – Mozart), and the Polish Royal Opera (Rodelinda – Handel). In 2022, he made his debut at the prestigious Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.

Artur Janda also has an extensive oratorio repertoire, including: St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion, Mass in B minor, Christmas oratorio – J.S. Bach, Messiah – G.F. Handel, The Seasons, The Creation, Teresian Messe – J. Haydn, Requiem, Krönung Messe – W.A. Mozart, Stabat Mater – A. Dvorak, Krönung Messe – F. Liszt, Requiem – G. Fauré, Seven Gates of Jerusalem – K. Penderecki, Te Deum – K. Kurpiński, Te Deum – W. Kilar.
As a member of the proMODERN Vocal Sextet of Contemporary Music (2012-2015), he received two Fryderyk 2015 awards, including in the “Most Outstanding Polish Music Recording” category for the album “Where Are You. Pieces From Warsaw.” In 2018, he received the Fryderyk 2018 award in the “Early Music Album of the Year” category for his recording of Antonio Caldara – Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo. In 2019, 2020, and 2022, he was nominated for the Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Award in the “Best Opera Singer” category.
