Exuberance: Enescu / Wajnberg / Kodály

November 29 @ 18:00 - 20:00

The richness of folk music has often inspired the “serious” concert repertoire. Originality, sincerity and spontaneity inherent in folk rhythms and melodies gained an artistic quality in compositional arrangements, but they did not lose the authenticity of their prototypes.

This is also the case of the Poem, Op. 1 by George Enescu, the Cello Concerto by Mieczysław Weinberg and Dances of Galánta by Zoltán Kodály. These pieces, although composed many years ago, are still present in the repertoire and enjoy continuing popularity.

PROGRAMME:

George Enescu (1881–1955)

Romanian Poem (Poème roumain) Op. 1
